I had leftover rice that I’d seasoned pretty thoroughly last night (onion powder, minced garlic, celery salt, etc) and thought might be too salty for syrup, so I took your recipe and went savory. I put slices of muenster cheese and roast beef in the middle of them and that worked out really well! I’ll definitely try that again! Thanks for posting!

We had these as kid in the 1960’s-1970’s…my grandma made them very often. She put a bit of flour in the mix, to help it all stick together I suppose. We would have strawberry jam on ours. Yummy!! I am going to make these tomorrow!!

We used to have this all the time when I was a kid! Never quite figured out how it was done, and there was never enough to go around, but it was always so good! I think ours used to be pan fried in butter…

I imagine that cooking up a fresh pot of rice just for these pancakes might not work out as well as using leftover rice. Fried rice is often made from day-old rice, as the leftover rice keeps its solid texture and consistency much better than fresh rice, which can become quite soggy and moist when used in a fried rice dish.

I can’t wait to try this recipe. These rice pancakes look delicious! Their appearance also remind me a lot of potato pancakes. Perhaps I might try adding some minced onion to the recipe…

Fry some bacon and cook these in some bacon grease. Yum!
